Privacy Policy

This policy covers summarizer.video (“Summarizer”, “we”, “us”): the website, the tools on it and the result pages it produces. It explains what we collect, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address and a password (stored only as a hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google — nothing else from your Google account.

What you give us to process. The links you paste, and any audio or video file you upload. A file you upload is stored so it can play beside its transcript, and you can delete it at any time.

What we generate for you. Transcripts, summaries, chapters, mind maps, flashcards, answers to your questions, and your workspace — the list of what you have processed.

Credits and payments. Your credit balance and the history of what spent it. If you buy credits or a plan, the payment is handled by our payment provider; we receive a confirmation and the amount, never your card number.

Technical data. Your IP address and browser details, used to keep the service running and to limit bulk scraping. Cookies keep you signed in and remember your language; we do not use advertising cookies.

Messages. Anything you send through the feedback box, including an email address if you choose to leave one.

Public videos and result pages

When a public YouTube, TikTok or Instagram link is processed, its transcript and summary are cached and served at a public address on this site, so the next person who asks for the same video gets it instantly. Those pages show what the video says — never who asked for it. Your workspace is private to you.

Files you upload are different: the result page for an upload is reachable only by someone who has its link, and it is never offered to search engines.

How we use it

• To run the service: fetch captions or transcribe audio, generate what you ask for, and keep your workspace.
• To keep your account and credit balance correct.
• To prevent abuse, such as automated bulk processing.
• To answer you when you write to us.
• To send the emails the service needs — verification and account messages. We do not send marketing email without your consent.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploads to train models.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of providers to run the service. Each receives only what its job needs:

• Vercel — hosting and serving the site.
• Neon — the database that holds accounts, credits and generated results.
• Cloudflare R2 — storage for the files you upload.
• Google — sign-in, if you use “Sign in with Google”.
• Resend — delivery of account emails.
• Video data and AI providers — a service that fetches public video captions and metadata, a speech-recognition service that turns audio into text, and a large-language-model provider that writes summaries and answers. They receive the audio or text being processed, not your account details.
• Payment provider — when you buy something, the checkout is run by our payment provider under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Uploaded files are kept until you delete them, or until your account is deleted. Cached transcripts and summaries of public videos may be kept after your account is gone, because they are not about you. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and debugging.

Your choices and rights

You can delete any uploaded file from its page. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything tied to it, by writing to the address below. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have additional rights, including the right to object to processing or to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children

Summarizer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and access to production data is limited. No online service can promise perfect security, but we will tell affected users promptly if their data is ever compromised.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users.
